At the top of San Cristobal is El Junco lagoon, the largest reserve of fresh water in the archipelago that also forms a unique ecosystem, with endemic species of plants, several species of shore birds and abundant vegetation. The overview from this site at 730 meters of altitude is fantastic, especially on a clear day that allow us to look to other islands of the archipelago.
We land on an olivine sand beach that reflect a green shade, and will be received by a colony of sea lions. A hike to the top of an ancient tuff crater will delight us with one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Galapagos. Above, you can find the three species of boobies: blue-footed, red-footed and Nazca boobies. During the dry season, a red carpet, formed by the succulent sesuvium is part of another stunning landscape at the southern end of the crater.
In the morning we dive in Lobos Island with playful sea lions and several species of Reef fish. The diving in Kicker Rock will be escorted by sharks, rays, sea turtles and several species of colorful reef fish. You will also have the opportunity to observe the birds that inhabit these rocks, such as boobies and frigates. Excellent opportunities for underwater and landscape photography.
The artificial reef formed by the sinking, almost 100 years ago, of this World War I German boat, brings divers the opportunity to observe nudibranchs, stingrays, corals, several species of fish and sea lions. It is one of the few shipwreck dive sites found in Galapagos, where you can also see what is left from this boat of almost 100 meters long, its propellers and boilers.
