Isabela Island

After arriving to Isabela we will pick you up for lunch, after which a boat takes us to the ”Tintoreras” islets, where a walk among lava formations inhabited by marine iguanas leads us to a channel where you can closely observe the white-tipped reef sharks, also known as Tintoreras. After this we will snorkel among penguins, sea turtles and a variety of reef fish, a combination that is possible only in Galapagos. The following day you can choose between the tours outlined below.

Sierra Negra Volcano (included)

This tour takes us to the edge of the caldera of the Sierra Negra volcano. Hikes will take you around much of the caldera to Volcan Chico. Sierra Negra is an active volcano that had its most recent eruption in October 2005. With more than 10 km in diameter, this caldera is considered one of the largest in the world and this volcano is considered the most ancient of Isabela Island.

Humedales Isabela
Breeding Centre and Wetlands (optional)

The Galapagos National Park has a giant tortoise breeding Center in Isabela Island. Your visit is worth to be a very educational centre on the recovery of tortoises. Here we see a subspecies known as “aplastada” (crushed), by the shape of its carapace. Here we take a path to the wetlands, where we observe several species of shore birds, flamingos, etc. Eventually the trail leads up to the “Wall of Tears”.

A hidden paradise where you can only arrive by boat. Crossing the break you get to this amazing site, formed by a combination of volcanic eruptions and the erosive action of the sea, resulting in an ideal place for photography, observation of penguins, rays, sea turtles, white tip reef sharks, and an unforgettable experience of snorkeling in crystal clear and calm waters.

Hikes through nature trails, on sand, dirt or volcanic rock. Snorkeling in waters which vary its temperature during the year between 16 and 26°C. Some hikes, such as the Sierra Negra Volcano, can be STRENUOUS and require good fitness, but we can make modifications according to the capacity and preferences of the participants.
